The process of digitization in geological sciences for conservatory purposes enables new possibilities in applications like rock classification based on pure image processing. In contrast to many modern advances which involve convolutional neural networks, we propose a tool based on image features. Based on higher order Riesz transform, these provide a flexible way to create feature vectors for different machine learning tools in general texture classification.
